Margaret
Jamison was born in New York City, and educated at Westport, CN. At
an early age, she was influenced by artists Sigmund Alder and Hardy Gramatky.
Margaret's early exposure to museums and gallery exhibits in New York City
continued after her move to California. She studied art at San Diego
State University. A career in visual merchandising and family obligations
overshadowed the fine arts for the next 30 years. She resumed her art
interest in 1987 taking classes at Rancho Santiago College, Irvine Valley,
and UC Irvine.
Retirement
in 1997 offered time for painting and drawing and to focus on what was soon
to become a passion: painting, en plein-air. Painting the personality
of the California landscape outdoors. In addition to oils, Margaret
continues to work in watercolor, prismacolor pencil, and pastels.
