Julie Christiansen-Dull
As
a native Californian, artist and writer, Julie Christiansen-Dull has painted
in watercolor for twenty-five years. "I am enchanted by the transparency
of watercolor, the way the light shines from within. I love light and shadow,
and color opposition. The juxtaposition of color against its complimentary
opposite sets up a contrast, making the painting sing." Julie is drawn
to subject matters that evoke deep feeling or suggest a spiritual journey.
After graduating from the University of Long Beach, Julie studied with Rex
Brandt, Scott Moore, Linda Moyer, Pat Short, Roger Armstrong, Chris Sullivan
and other acclaimed artists.
Julie is a member of NAA, NWS, WW, and WAOW and has shown in local and national
juried fine art events, galleries, and museums (George Ohr Museum Mississippi, Phippen Museum-Arizona, Lancaster Museum-CA, Reagan Museum-CA, William S.Hart Museum-CA, Art-a-Fair-CA, Taos Art Museum of Art-New Mexico, Mission SJC-CA, Orange County Gershwin Society.) She was chosen as an art ambassador for the Grant Kohrs National Historic Site in Montana and has shown at charity events for Lara's House, SJC Boys and Girls Club, SJC Historical Society and Cancer Society. Her paintings are shown in numerous galleries and corporate collections in the US and abroad.
Her many awards include: Windsor-Newton Best of Watercolor, Macey award for Set Design, Watercolor USA (Missouri), Mayor's Award-Echoes & Visions and many 1st,2nd,3rd place awards in local art events. Her art and writing has been published in:
