Laurie Downey

Laurie grew up on the beaches of Southern California and has been involved in the arts since her youth. She earned a B.A. in Art from the University of California (Santa Barbara and Irvine) with an emphasis in painting. After graduation Laurie launched a career in jewelry design and manufacturing which lasted 20 years.

After living in Italy, Laurie returned to the United States with a new interest in painting and dedicated herself to watercolours and their infinite range of possibilities. She now lives in Dana Point. Laurie regularly visits Kauai and is represented by the Lighthouse Café in Kilauea and the Bali Hai restaurant at the Hanalei Bay Resort. On the mainland she exhibits at the Laguna North Gallery in Laguna Beach, California.

Laurie often paints from photographs which she takes while traveling with her husband and two children. She enjoys painting the exotic flowers of Hawaii, the local scenes of the California coast and the Italian countryside.
